This new house deals with aspirations of operable privacy and access to natural light – driven by the constraint of a busy adjacent street and public realm. The practices’ interest in solar courts and pivoting courtyard screens is continued in this project. Vaulted ceiling sections define living and working zones and separate from circulation zones – roof lights give internal daylight to restricted orientations. A series of internal courtyards are passed on arrival – these courtyards provide exterior habitable space and descale the entrance sequence from the adjacent parkland… more soon
